How does the Background Remover work?
An AI segmentation model (ISNet, or the higher-quality InSPyReNet in Best quality mode) runs directly in your browser via WebAssembly. Drop a photo and the subject is cut out in seconds. The image is never uploaded.
Is it really free, unlike remove.bg?
Yes. Because the AI runs on your own device, there are no per-image server costs, so no credits, no watermarks and no signup.
Why does the first use download a model?
The one-time ~40 MB download is the AI model itself. It is cached on your device, so every later use is instant, even offline.
What output do I get?
A transparent PNG at the original resolution. You can optionally flatten it onto a solid background color.
